HUTSCHN at the Streetlife Festival on 08/09 September 2018

Car free day

Since 2000, the Munich environmental initiative Green City e.V. has been organising the Streetlife Festivalon the occasion of the Europe-wide car-free day.

Initially it was held between Odeonsplatz and Königsplatz, but since 2001 Ludwigstraße has been the venue. The patron is Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter.

08 and 09 September 2018

On 08 and 09 September 2018, at the invitation of GREEN CITY, the team from HUTSCHN was also present.

The Streetlife Festival is the only festival in the world that creatively and actively deals with public space: we rethink squares, streets, monuments, pavements, house walls, subways, traffic lights and show how to make urban space better and more beautiful.

Professor Huber Square

On Professor Huber Platz on Leopoldstrasse, the sun was shining brightly and people were swinging and experiencing urban space in a completely different way.

Munich the green city

Oh Munich, you green city! Admittedly, when one thinks of Munich, the green city may not be the first association. The Oktoberfest, Kaufingerstraße and crowded underground trains and streets are likely to take precedence. A picture dominated by asphalt, hardly a trace of green. Yet Munich has all kinds of green spaces to offer. And what green spaces they are. The English Garden, for example, is one of the largest inner-city green spaces in the world. Furthermore, the Isar flows through the city like a kind of blue-green lifeline and lets it blossom and flourish at the Flaucher. Lovingly designed parks and gardens stretch out in all directions - in short: the meadows are there, you just have to know where. For this reason, "Green City" is this year's motto of the Streetlife Festival. It is both a commitment and an appeal. A commitment that we can perceive Munich as a liveable city with many quiet spots and an appeal to do just that more often.

Green spaces can be found. They can be used. They can be created. So come with us on a journey through the city and learn to see it with different eyes. Get to know Munich as a green city. As a Green City!
