There is hardly a more beautiful spot in Chiemgau, and not only the people of Schleching are convinced of this when they speak lovingly about "their" Streichen. Pilgrims, mountain hikers, excursionists and art lovers also share this opinion, as the mountain inn with the Streichenkirche church has been an idyllic place of longing for generations and is considered a landmark of the mountaineering village of Schleching and the entire Achental valley.
A new chapter in the eventful history of this traditional ensemble is now beginning: thanks to the strong civic commitment of Kulturerbe Bayern, the Yvonne & Thomas Wilde Family Foundation and the Streichenfreunde initiative, which campaigned for the preservation of the property as an inn, the common goal can now be realized: To continue the historic ensemble in the spirit of the former Streichenwirt and to revive it as soon as possible for all those who enjoy visiting this place.
In the middle of the picturesque Achental valley, a project is being created that combines nature, culture and community: a new hiking trail equipped with our unique swings. The project is being realized by the Yvonne & Thomas Wilde Family Foundation, which has been committed to art, culture, education and preserving the idea of home since it was founded in 2018.
The commitment at Berggasthof Streichen would be inconceivable without Kultur Erbe Bayern. This foundation under civil law is also dedicated to the protection and preservation of historical monuments, nature and landscape conservation and the promotion of voluntary work. The Munich-based foundation w as already won as a partner in 2021 to acquire the Berggasthof Streichen together w ith the Wilde Familienstiftung. Commitment to trusting cooperation: Thomas C. Wilde was elected to the Board of Trustees of Kultur Erbe Bayern in 2024.
The family foundation aims to leave traces for future generations and promote civic engagement. At the heart of its work is the careful restoration of historical sites such as the Berggasthof Streichen and the Faschingwiese - places that tell history and bring people together. The planned hiking trail leads through the idyllic Faschingwiese meadow and creates a direct link between the B307 main road and the Streichenkirche church, a cultural gem in the Achental valley. The route, which takes around 45 minutes to walk, is aimed particularly at families and nature enthusiasts.
Along the path, our Hutschn are installed as special accents. They not only invite hikers to linger, but also symbolize the foundation's values: encounter, balance and pausing for a moment.
The Achental valley stands for a unique combination of nature, tradition and modernity. Through projects such as this hiking trail, the Yvonne & Thomas Wilde Family Foundation shows how civic engagement can preserve tradition and at the same time shape the future. The hiking trail will not only be a gateway to nature, but also a meeting point for people who want to experience the beauty of the region.
The hiking trail with the Hutschn is part of a larger vision: to strengthen the Achental valley as a living cultural space and at the same time to assume ecological and monument conservation responsibility. The collaboration with experts, such as landscape architects and monument conservators, shows how important a well thought-out and sustainable concept is to the foundation. This project illustrates how tradition and innovation can go hand in hand. We at Hutschn are proud to be part of this vision with our swings and to contribute to creating places of encounter and inspiration. We look forward to the opening in early summer and the first visitors who can enjoy nature and our swings to the full!
